Word of the Day #150-156
Seven words for seven days (Now coming to you as a daily note and a weekly compilation)
Monday is here again, my friends! And, with it, comes another seven words to add to the Word of the Day anthology. Be sure to visit my main page for previous entries, and let me know what you think in the comments below!
Word of the Day #150: sarcasm
Snarky and unapologetic. Some of my favorite humor. If any word were an eye roll, this would qualify. Always good for a laugh.
Word of the Day #151: furniture
Piece by piece
It comes together.
One more step
Almost done.
Hammer here
Another nail in
Cinch it down
Oh what fun.
Finally finished
It stands firm.
Tools away
A job well done.
Word of the Day #152: bed
Never have I been so thankful for a bed. It’s been a busy but productive couple of days and exhausted doesn’t even begin to cover it. I’m numb. My muscles have abandoned me. Tomorrow, they’ll enact their revenge, but for now, I’m resolved, already melting into my plush sanctuary. Goodnight Substackians. May the morrow have mercy on me.
Word of the Day #153: brash
The lack of wisdom. That moment right before you do something really stupid. At the time you made the choice, it felt right, and you felt invincible, indestructible. Perhaps there was copious amounts of Felix Felicis involved. Either way, it didn’t hit you that it may not be a smart decision until right before the follow through. Too late to turn back now. Cross your fingers and hold your breath. Time to see if luck really does take sides.
Word of the Day #154: water
So much power in water. It moves freely, the way it desires, barreling through this obstacle, only to caress the next. It decides whether you stay or go. The ability to take life and to sustain it. It cleanses, not only dirt and grime, but cares and worries, whisking you away if just for a moment. The waves on the shore remind you it’s not to be trifled with, but respected.
Word of the Day #155: delectable
I close my eyes, letting the icy sweetness slide its way off my tongue and down my throat, dripping, pooling, melting in the corners of my mouth. For a brief moment, I pause, savoring every ounce, marveling in its effect. That something so small, so unassuming could make such a mind like mine still, however fleeting. Once the pool is drained, mere remnants are all that’s left. Memories floating on ice cream.
Word of the Day #156: sabotage
Chaotic in its ruin. Not motivated by greed or anger, merely in it to see the world burn (and snicker while it does). This one comes with a song, because, well, how could I not?
